ABOUT
With exquisite, southwestern architecture, the one-of-kind residence is characterized by earth-tones, wood beams, textures, and natural finishes. Architect Dave Elfrin thoughtfully designed the home with care and consideration to the authentic style, with numerous outdoor living spaces to soak in the setting. Surrounded by over 1,000 acres of open land and nestled against a hillside, the sprawling 35-acre property features a garden oasis - rhubarb, pumpkins, squash, asparagus, plums, berries, and cherries - plus an orchard of 20 heirloom apple trees. The two-stall barn has been updated with electrical, insulation, heat, and a second story. Oh, and the chickens have their own heated “mini-mansion".
Behind an adobe fence and wrought iron gate is a romantic courtyard with a fire pit and water feature, leading to the covered, veranda entrance. The main level is oriented around a generously-scaled great room, showcasing an authentic, rustic beamed vaulted ceiling and large windows overlooking the scenic landscape. At the center of the room is a dramatic two-sided, river stone fireplace with log mantle. On one side of the fireplace is the living area overlooking the mountains, and on the other is the open dining area. The kitchen is perfectly complimented by colorful Trevera tile, expansive butcher block countertops, and wooden cabinetry, and features stainless-steel appliances including a GE® Monogram gas range with griddle and vent hood, paneled refrigerator, center island, and huge walk-in pantry. Enjoy the views from the eat-in space with planning nook and take advantage of sliding door to both the west and east facing patios.
Main-floor living is perfected by a generous home office, large laundry/mud room, and huge owner’s suite. With its own foyer, a rounded archway leads to the bedroom with mountain views and an adobe gas fireplace, and completing the suite is the soothing bathroom, featuring dual sinks and a large walk-in shower with river stone and glass block windows, and a walk-in closet. On the lower level, an open entertaining space features an adobe gas fireplace and plenty of room for a sitting area, game table, and bar. A wall of windows overlooks the waterfall, splashing from the courtyard above, and a door accesses the patio, creating an even larger indoor/outdoor space. With a hot tub, firepit, waterfall, and pergola with string lights, this is the perfect spot to unwind and watch the sunset over the mountains.
Leading from the house to the barn is a newly constructed, timber staircase. The barn has been transformed and features a workshop, feed room, and tack room. The two stalls have been redone with heat and Nelson auto waterers and sand footing has been added to the corral. There are two fenced pastures for grazing and there’s eight acres of hay fields. All new drip systems have been added for the landscaping, lawns, gardens, and orchards.
